Sex and the City 3?

February, 22. 2014.

In last few months there have been more news with SATC cast opinions about another sequel so maybe it will start to heat up the things and maybe studio greenlights that "one more story left to be told".

Michael Patrick King says, that Sex and the City is still thriving on TV, especially as alternative programming.

“Sarah Jessica and I both know what that final chapter is. That doesn’t mean it will or should be told, but I do think there’s one story left. Whether it ever happens is a whole other situation. But there’s four girls, and those girls are still in my mind. There are other stories to tell and characters that haven’t even been written yet.”

“What I do know is that there’s interest, but with interest comes non-interest. It’s all really about the stories, and if you actually think you have something left to say that would make it exciting and worthwhile for the fans’ time, that’s really the question. Not whether you can get away with it, not whether anybody will buy it, not whether you can make money on it. It’s really like, is there enough or more to say that would justify people risking seeing their favorite characters again? And I think there’s one chapter left.”

King is realistic that a third Sex and the City venture may in fact never come to fruition, but fans should be pleased to know that he and SJP are on the same page when it comes to finishing the saga with one final story.

Sex and the City celebrates 15 years!

Kim Cattrall on SATC regrets

June, 5. 2013.

Kim Cattrall wishes she had enjoyed making Sex and the City "a little bit more".

Having been involved for six seasons, Kim admits the experience was all-consuming at times.

“You always wish that you’d had more of a sense of humour about it,” she told UK newspaper The Times. “That you’d enjoyed it a little bit more. We were always feeling the pressure of the schedule; we shot two shows at the same time; 19-hour days almost every week.”

It was widely reported that Kim was unhappy with her contract and wanted the four actresses to be on a more equal pay structure, since Sarah Jessica was earning more. Kim was prepared for a film to go ahead without her rather than be paid less than another cast member, and although she was pitched against her co-stars she is happy she negotiated a better deal.

"Again, I think it’s because of my age; I didn’t ever want to be on a set or a stage where I don’t feel valued, and I felt that we were being undervalued,” she explained.

Kim is currently single and admits her character's reputation for intimidating men still impacts her in real life.

"Yes, some men are scared, but they are not men I am interested in,” she smiled, before revealing what she looks for in a man. “Intelligence. Sex starts in the brain.”

During the interview, Kim insists she has no plans to retire any time soon.

The Carrie Diaries to premiere in January

December, 22. 2012.

Nothing really important going on in past -- half a year and more. The last promo trailer is out before January 14. premiere.

The Carrie Diaries started filming in NYC

March, 22. 2012.

Filling the shoes — sorry, Manolo Blahniks — of one of of TV's most iconic characters can be a daunting task, but luckily new Carrie Bradshaw AnnaSophia Robb is getting some help from Sarah Jessica Parker.

"She sent me a letter! I wrote her one back, too," says the 18-year-old star of The Carrie Diaries, a Sex and the City prequel set to air on the CW this fall. "She was just very encouraging about it all. It was really cool!"

Robb has been preparing for months, but yesterday she finally got to start shooting the first episode in New York. As for measuring up to the HBO series, she isn't worried. "I know everyone's going to compare it to Sex and the City, but we're never going to be that," she said. "The show is more for my generation, but it's set in the '80s, so it's fun."

SATC - The Prequel is Coming to the CW

January, 23. 2012.

What do you do when your characters are closer to retirement than a rave?  You rewind time and start all over again.

The CW(WGN in Chicago) is moving forward with The Carrie Diaries ordering a pilot based on Candace Bushnell's novel about a young Carrie Bradshaw coming of age in the 1980s. It will give all you Sex and the City fans a back story on Carrie, her life, how she met her friends, and so much and more!

It takes the pressure off the original cast to squeeze into their Spanks and try and bang another one out for a paycheck.

Will it be as good as the original HBO version? Barring any additions of a young Jar Jar Binks to the cast, it has potential.  Since it's not on HBO, the language and sex will have to be cut back, but that gives the writers a chance to do what they do best, write.  One of the things that made the "original" Sex and the City so great, the dialogue between the characters.

Amy Harris, who worked on HBO's original Sex and the City series, wrote the new pilot script.  Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, Len Goldstein and Candace Bushnell serve as executive producers.

No official air date has been announced yet. .

Creators at War

January, 15. 2012.

The great minds behind two highly-successful series "Desperate Housewives" and "Sex and the City" are feuding over a comment made by the former. "Desperate" creator Marc Cherry recently said he won't make a movie out of the show like "Sex", and with that, he triggered a comment from Michael Patrick King.

Cherry was speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour this week, telling reporters there won't be a big screen version after the eighth and final season. "I'm never sending these gals to Dubai," he said, referring to "Sex and the City 2". "That's all I'm saying. Sex And The City only did, I think, a total of something like 69 episodes. So I always thought the advantage for them was that they hadn't really plumbed the depths of those characters."

King responded with a statement to reporters. He said, "I don't think [Cherry has] ever made a feature film, so I don't know if he knows what that entails, but the reality is my second movie made almost half a billion dollars. It's fine. The reality is I've moved on from that. I'm doing a new show [2 Broke Girls]. It's the number one comedy."

King, however, said that he is not offended by Cherry's comments, saying "It doesn't matter. Here's what happens - you create something in the moment that you feel will be good, and then. ...people's reactions to it or people referencing it years later, it's a compliment."

Kristin Davis adopting a little girl

October, 24. 2011.

Sarah Jessica Parker has spoken out about her SATC co-star Kristin Davis adopting a little girl.

The 46-year-old starred in Sex and the City with Davis, also 46, and said she's thrilled to hear that she's adopted a little girl called Gemma Rose.

She said to Access Hollywood: 'It's a wonderful situation. I know she's wanted to have a family for a long time and she deserves that unique kind of happiness that children bring and I'm so happy for her.'

Davis's character Charlotte adopted a little girl called Rose in the first movie adaptation of their hit TV show and Parker said she couldn't help but notice how she gave her daughter Rose as a middle name.

She said: 'That occurred to me. But it's a beautiful old-fashioned name, and Kristin is a really old fashioned girl.

'She's a southern-raised kind of... She has a real traditional streak, so I think it's a beautiful name... It's nice.'

Carrie Bradshaw back on the small screen?

September, 12. 2011.

According to multiple reports, The CW has bought “The Carrie Diaries’’ project – a “Sex and The City” prequel based on Candace Bushnell’s book about Carrie’s time in high school.

The show is being developed by “Gossip Girl” producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage and according to Entertainment Weekly, the series could end up on the air by next fall.

Deadline reported that Warner Bros. TV, which owns the rights to the “The Carrie Diaries,’’ is working out a deal that would allow the series to use characters and elements from the hit HBO series.

Samantha Jones is featured in Bushnell’s book, but Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York – along with the rest of Carrie’s circle of friends – are not.

As of now, HBO series creator Darren Star and star Sarah Jessica Parker are not attached to the project.

A rep for The CW declined to comment when contacted by Access Hollywood.

Last month, Michael Patrick King, co-executive producer of the “Sex and The City” television series and writer of both movies, voiced his feelings about a prequel.

“I’m not working on any ‘Sex and The City’ prequel at all,” King said during a Television Critics Association panel to promote his new CBS show, “2 Broke Girls,” in August.

SJP Confirms Storyline for Sex and the City 3 Movie

August, 21. 2011.

A third Sex and the City movie is inching towards reality, as series star Sarah Jessica Parker says there's a nugget for a story being developed.

When asked if there was a chance for another sequel to the high-fashion franchise, Parker told Parade, "There is. I know what the story is. It’s a small story, but I think it should be told. The question is, what’s the right time to tell it?”

Kristin Davis is enthusiastic about the idea of a third SATC film. "I'm always hopeful and I always believe there's another story to tell because these are these women's lives so why wouldn't there be another chapter," she said.

Sex and the City going back to TV?

August, 15. 2011.

After the second Sex and the City movie hit screens last year, we thought Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda had probably hung up their Manolos for good. But it seems we might just have been wrong…

According to industry insiders, plans for a third movie have been put on hold – in favour of restarting the TV show, for a seventh season of the famous franchise.

It’s thought after many meetings, a TV comeback could really be in the offing, with Sarah Jessica Parker tipped as producer.

‘Ultimately Darren Star – the man who created the hit series – will have the overall say, but everyone is agreed a TV show is the direction they want to take the franchise in,’ one network insider told the Daily Mail.

'Sarah Jessica Parker will be producing. She was worried about doing another film after the bad reaction to the SATC2 movie, but a TV show is definitely something she wants to happen.’

Although it’s thought execs were working on a third movie, reports suggest these plans have now been put on hold.

‘They want to make the TV series before doing another film,’ the source added.

Michael Patrick King Not Doing SATC Prequel

August, 4. 2011.

Don't look for a movie prequel to the Sex and the City saga -- at least not by Michael Patrick King.  During today's TCA panel on King's new CBS comedy 2 Broke Girls, the executive producer took a detour to answer a question about rumors of a Sex and the City prequel movie, which would follow Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte through their teens into their 20s and would be based on author Candace Bushnell’s novels The Carrie Diaries and Summer and the City.

King was executive producer/showrunner of  HBO's Sex and the City series and wrote and directed the two Sex and the City movies. "I’m not working on any Sex and the City prequel at all," he said. "I haven't read Candace’s Bushnell's books. ...  My Carrie Bradshaw started at 33 and I took her to 43 -- I don’t even want to know who Carrie Bradshaw’s parents are ... the idea of going backward, making her less evolved, is something that I can’t even imagine doing. I have no connection to the prequel."

Selena Gomez Laughs Off SATC Rumors

July, 16. 2011.

Selena Gomez may not be destined for Sex after all. Despite recent buzz that she had been tapped to play a younger Charlotte in the Sex and the City prequel, the pop starlet and girlfriend of Justin Bieber said it just isn't so.

"That was a compliment and I was very surprised when I heard that - it was very sweet, but there is nothing official and I've never even been approached or anything," she lightheartedly told Digital Spy of her rumored SATC role.

However, as Bieber would say: Never say never! Hollywood is famous for denying upcoming roles until all details and contracts are signed and sealed. So, perhaps there's still hope that the 18-year-old Selena Gomez will channel her stylista side for Charlotte

Sex and the City Prequel Starring Selena Gomez?

July, 6. 2011.

Candace Bushnell, author of ‘Sex and the City,’ revealed that a prequel will eventually come to life. It will either be a big screen film or made for tv movie.

Bushnell has just released a novel prequel for the fashion mixed with sex series. ‘The Carrie Diaries’ has been joined by ‘Summer in the City,’ which goes into the adventures of Carrie’s senior year of high school. During the book launch, the topic of more S&TC movies came up and Candace is confident the series won’t stop at just two feature films.

This isn’t the first prequel rumor. Blake Lively’s named is attached to the role of Carrie in several film adaptation rumors. Candace did not confirm or deny that casting, but she did reveal her top contender to undertake the role of a young Charlotte York.

“You know, I don’t know…Casting is like kismet. I’m going to get into trouble for this, but I was looking at some pictures of Selena Gomez today and thinking ’she’d make a really good young Charlotte. She’s so pretty. I was like…gosh, wouldn’t she be great? Am I right or wrong? I’m not good at this. If I say something like that, then the next thing I know, people are like, no!”

New Role for Sarah Jessica Parker Leaves Glamour Behind

June, 1. 2011.

Sarah Jessica Parker's latest movie role is very different from anything she played as the glamorous Carrie Bradshaw in TV's Sex and the City. While she remains within the comedy genre with which she is so familiar, Parker's new film role has a bit more meat.

She plays a highly successful business woman who takes on the bread winning role for her family, which consists of a husband and two adorable kids. The film, entitled 'I Don't Know How She Does It' is billed as endearing, funny and entertaining. Greg Kinnear co-stars as Parker's husband.

Kate Reddy, Sarah Jessica Parker's character, works as a financial executive by day and as a doting wife and mother by night. That is until her life spins out of control and she discovers she no longer knows which side is up. What results is a comedic romp through the waters of everyday life.

Summer and the City - Not Just for Kids

April, 29. 2011.

Summer and the CityFor women of a certain age, Carrie Bradshaw and her "Sex and the City" pals are surrogate friends — lovable yet flawed characters who've collectively experienced the many and messy permutations of modern-day urban romance.

Other than reruns and the occasional movie, fans of Candace Bushnell's bestselling book or, more likely, its popular HBO TV spinoff, haven't had a lot of options for keeping up their fictional friendships with Sam (and her revolving door of a bed), Miranda (with her commitment issues), Charlotte (and her Park Avenue lifestyle) and, of course, Carrie, her newspaper column and Mr. Big.

For those fans, "Summer and the City" will be a welcome visit from long-lost friends. The novel is the follow-up to 2010's "The Carrie Diaries," Bushnell's "Sex and the City" young-adult prequel that took place during Carrie's senior year in high school. Unlike the YA series kickoff, which centered solely on Carrie and her dating, drinking and smoking in the small Connecticut suburb of Castlebury, "Summer and the City" follows the 17-year-old's move to New York City to attend a writing workshop and her introductions to the women who will become her very best friends.

SATC 3 Probably Won't Happen in Lieu of a Prequel

April, 10. 2011.

Sex and the City 2 was given one of the harshest critical drubbings of any film released last year. And many speculated that we'd seen the last of Carrie Bradshaw and her crew of friends. We recently caught up with Kim Cattrall, who's played Samantha Jones on the hit HBO series-turned-big screen franchise for the past thirteen years, and she doesn't think she'll ever be back to play Samantha Jones again, either. Not in a feature film, anyway.

She did mention the Sex and the City prequel that is rumored to be heading for production, with Blake Lively often mentioned in terms of casting a twenty-year-old Carrie Bradshaw. Cattrall says she has been kept mostly out of the loop on that, and has no idea who would even play a twenty-year-old Sam.

Here is a our conversation.

Will you be back as Samantha in Sex and the City 3?

Kim Cattrall: I really don't know. As an actor, they first get a script together and they give you some start dates. They put together a budget, and then they say, "We're going to send you a script!" They want to talk. That hasn't happened. There is now talk of a prequel. Candace Bushnell wrote a book called 'The Carrie Diaries'. We've seen little rumors about them wanting to make a movie about the girls in their twenties. Maybe late tweens. I didn't read this book. I haven't had a chance to. But Candace is a very good writer, and I am sure she has come up with a very good plotline for the girls. That to me seems...I don't know. I am not holding onto that hope. I feel like I've let go. Whatever happens with those characters...I would love to revisit them. Its like a reunion. Its like going home. Thirteen years of your life? That is a long time to be associated with one show and one character. One family. If it happens, that would be great. But if not? It was an amazing experience.

Did you think that the critics were a little to harsh on Sex and the City 2?

The book for new SATC movie?

March, 28. 2011.

Summer is a magical time in New York City and Carrie is in love with all of it—the crazy characters in her neighborhood, the vintage-clothing boutiques, the wild parties, and the glamorous man who has swept her off her feet. Best of all, she's finally in a real writing class, taking her first steps toward fulfilling her dream.

This sequel to The Carrie Diaries brings surprising revelations as Carrie learns to navigate her way around the Big Apple, going from being a country "sparrow"—as Samantha Jones dubs her—to the person she always wanted to be. But as it becomes increasingly difficult to reconcile her past with her future, Carrie realizes that making it in New York is much more complicated than she ever imagined.

With her signature wit and sparkling humor, Candace Bushnell reveals the irresistible story of how Carrie met Samantha and Miranda, and what turned a small-town girl into one of New York City's most unforgettable icons, Carrie Bradshaw.

SJP is furious about next SATC movie plans

March, 27. 2011.

Sarah Jessica Parker is furious about the plans to make another “Sex and the City” movie, but this time as a back story and using younger women for the cast, according to Showbizspy

The “Sex and the City” movies has another story to tell, says Jessica Parker. She wants to tell that third story, just not doing it by going backwards without the original cast. Sarah believes there is another story that can be concocted around Sarah and the original girls of “Sex in the City.

When Sarah found about the new plans, she took matters into her own hands and did some research on the latest computer technology. She was hoping for some type of technique that would let the four girls play their younger selves instead of an all new cast.

The idea didn’t fly with the “Sex and the City” powers that be, but if it had, it would have been a first for the movies. They have computers that can age a person for forensic purposes, like when they are looking for a runaway child who has been missing for years.

It looks like Sarah might have been looking for the opposite of that technique for the next “Sex and the City” movie. With a nay from the “Sex and the City” execs, Sarah has reformed herself to the possibility that the next “Sex in the City” moviw may be without her and her three BBFs

Maybe in five years, you know?

March, 22. 2011.

The prospects for another "Sex and the City" movie have been in question ever since the diminished box-office dollars and lukewarm reviews for "Sex and the City 2" began coming in last spring. But Sarah Jessica Parker, who produced as well as starred in the two Michael Patrick King creations, said this week she's not willing to give up on the franchise just yet.

"I would go back," said Parker, speaking to 24 Frames on the New York set of her new movie, the working-woman comedy "I Don't Know How She Does It." "I think there's one more story to tell. I know there is."

The second "SATC" ended with Parker's Carrie Preston and Chris Noth's Mr. Big reconciling their marriage differences after said nuptials faced a threat from Carrie's former beau Aidan. Over six TV seasons and two movies, however, there have been no children (yet) for the former Miss Bradshaw, something that a third film could explore.

But Parker, taking on her biggest film role with "I Don't Know How She Does It" -- in which she stars in pretty much every scene -- said she may not be interesting in reprising her iconic role at this point in her career.

"I'd definitely tell that [third] story, and I know Michael would do it right. But maybe not now. Maybe in five years, you know?" she said.

Parker explained that the impulse to wait came from a desire to feel challenged in her work.

Sex and the City prequel rumors

February, 13. 2011.

Dianna Agron wants to play Carrie Bradshaw in a movie prequel.

The 24-year-old ‘Glee’ star would love to play a younger version of the ‘Sex and the City’ style icon – portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker in six TV series and movies – in the possible ‘Carrie Diaries’ prequel, although she would worry about comparisons to the actress.

She said: “Of course I would do it. I mean, who hasn’t seen every episode five million times.

“But then again, you run the risk of people hating it. I mean, how do you compete against Sarah Jessica Parker? She originated that!”

The ‘I Am Number Four’ actress isn’t the only young star to express interest in playing the stylish New York writer in the film, which will be based on the book by ‘Sex and the City’ author Candace Bushnell.

Pop star Miley Cyrus previously said she would “love” to be cast, adding: “I’m not attached, so I don’t want to say that, but that would be very cool.”

‘Gossip Girl‘ actress Blake Lively was also recently rumoured, but suggestions she would be involved have since been quashed.

Sarah Jessica, 45, has previously claimed she would like to play her younger self if a prequel were ever to be made.

She said: “Who do I want to play teenage Carrie? I don’t know.

“Maybe they should use old footage of me. And in this new age of ‘Avatar’, what about a new 17-year-old S.J.?”

SJP to Revive Sex and The City Online?

January, 9. 2011.

SARAH Jessica Parker wants to bring back Sex and the City – but only online.

The actress is said to be considering an idea to bring back Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda in a series of web-based shorts.

“A lot of fans were let down by SATC 2 and while there won’t be a third movie there may be a future for the franchise,” explains an insider.

“In marketing terms there is a lot of interest in bring Carrie and the girls back even if it’s only on the small scale.

“There is a number of ideas on the table and it really just depends if SJP and the rest of the cast can be tempted back.”

Sarah has previously spoken of her desire to make sure Carrie Bradshaw lives on.

“I hope Carrie will live on,” she said last year.

“She will live on — even if the movies don’t.

“I feel blessed that we’ve told so many stories about these lovely characters.”

On aging naturally:
“I don’t know what I can do about the aging. Yes, I am aging. Oh my God, I’m aging all the time. It’s like those flowers that wilt in front of you in time-lapse films. But what can I possibly do? Look like a lunatic?”
On meeting the twins after their birth:
“[Meeting them] is hard to describe. Everything is suspended. I can’t even tell you what other sounds were in the room. I loved them immediately, but everything—their size, the shape of their heads, the color of their hair, their noses, their eyes—was new to me. They looked surprisingly different from James Wilkie, which I wasn’t expecting.”

On her reaction to being offered the position of President and Chief Creative Officer at Halston and Halston Heritage:
“I kept saying, ‘You understand, by offering this you are going to be criticized?’ It took me a long time to say yes.”

On taking her role at Halston very seriously:

“I said, ‘Please know this now: I will never do this for a title. I will never dip in and out of this. I’ll do it like everything else I’ve ever done. I’ll be involved down to the splitting of the atom.’”

Kristin Davis: Im ready for Sex and the City 3

November, 20. 2010.

Kristin Davis told me exclusively this week that she’s ready for a third Sex and the City movie at some point in the future. She told me in LA at The Oxfam Party taking place at Esquire House: “There are no plans that I know of but I would love to do a third film. We all want to do it, I guess it’s just figuring out whether it’s the right thing to do and if we can move the characters forward any more.”
One person that won’t be watching the show or any of the movies is her granny – who’s 101 years of age! She giggled: “I’m going home to my Grandma’s house. She’s 101 now. I would die if I knew my 101 year old grandmother watched me having sex on TV!” Fair enough!
It sounds like the actress, who plays Charlotte York Goldenblatt, is busy as can be right now, SATC aside. She said: “I’m working on a new show at the moment for ABC. It’s a sitcom. We’re writing a script at the moment and it’s from a book called The Happiness Project. We’re not doing it literally from the book – we’re just using it as a base. I will definitely be in it but I don’t know about the rest of the Sex and the City girls.” Stand on your own two feet now Kristin!

SATC2 DVD Review

October, 27. 2010.

Releasing a new "Sex and the City" movie on DVD at Halloween raises the question: Trick or treat? I’m definitely in the minority here, because I found myself more treated than tricked by "Sex and the City 2"

When this sequel arrived in theaters last May it was attacked in just about every corner as whiny, silly and culturally insensitive. Sounded like typical Hollywood fare to me, so it was easy to stay away.
Imagine my surprise at home, then, to pop it in my machine and find that this admittedly campy, sometimes R-for-raunchy comedy of manners develops a theme, engages the viewer in an inner dialogue on virtue and intimacy, and comes out squarely on the side of fidelity in relationships.

Not to oversell its thematic infrastructure, Sex and the City 2 entertains, both via smart dialogue and visual appeal. The art design - including its usual runway fashions and an array of exotic settings - is fabulous, and virtually pops off the screen in the extra clarity of Blu-ray’s high-definition.

The DVD bonus extras take us on a fun cruise back to what the ladies lived through in the 1980s, and takes a deeper look at the soundtrack with Alicia Keys. The Blu-ray “combo pack” has those bonuses plus a director’s commentary, a DVD and digital copy, a visit with cameo guest star Liza Minnelli and a conversation with Parker.
